Drive from Kathmandu to Dolalghat then rafting to Tarang Gaon

We start our rafting from the Dolalghat which takes 3-4 hours drive from Kathmandu and take short raft to the Tarang Gaon.It is a fairly easy start to the trip, with just a few Grade 2 rapids before we reach our camp on Butterfly Beach. We setup camp and stay overnight there.

Day 2
Rafting from Tarang Gaon to Dumja

Our next day rafting start in the morning after breakfast and packing of camp. Today we raft to the most excited big class rapid “No Exit” – Grade 3 and “Meatgrinder”-Grade 4. We will setup camp at Dumja.

Day 3
Rafting from Dumja to Khurkot

Another enjoying day of rafting where we raft to a point where Tama Koshi River joins the Sun Koshi on the left with a beach on the confluence. There is another beautiful Shiva temple. We will setup camp at Khurkot.

Day 4
Rafting from Khurkot to Likhu Khola

Today we raft to “Anxiety” rapid series whihc includes the “Pre”, “Post” and “High Anxiety”. After that we raft to the warm waters, keep an eye out for those cheeky monkeys, enjoy the scenery and perhaps have a little go at kayaking. We setup camp at Likhu Khola beach.

Day 5
Rafting from Likhu Khola to Harkapur village

Today we raft to the “Harkapur” village. We passes to the 3+ grade rapid and Harkapur 2 and 3 are the hardest rapid on the river which should be carefully scouted.

Day 6
Rafting from Harkapur village to Rai Ghat

After the Harkapur, Dudh Kosi River joins the Sun Kosi from the left. Below here the river widens into an arid area of gravel. We meet some small rapids and will teach you into another aptly named rapid ‘Jaws’.

Day 7
Rafting from Rai Ghat to Buwajor Ghat

This is the hardest part of the rafting as we will encounter most of the grade 4+ rapids – we are straight into good exciting rapid “Rhino Rock” – grade 4+ followed by “Jungle Corridor” a kilometer of continuous white water. Waterfalls cascade on both sides of the river. One waterfall makes a great spot for a team shower.

Day 8
Rafting from Buwajor Ghat to Baraha Chhetra

Last few days are mainly wave trains if you are interested you can try kayaking where our experts will teach you the basic skills needed to maneuver the boats or learn the Eskimo roll.

Day 9
Rafting from Barahchhatra to Chatara then drive back to Kathmandu.

The last stretch of River which brings us to the last class 4+ Big Dipper is a series of huge standing waves. After few kilometers, Arun, Tamur and Sunkushi join together and form the Sapta Kosi. Then we float along on the powerful current, the hills dramatically give way to totally flat Terai and the northern plains of India. This is the end of a classic and memorable Rafting journey. Finally we finish rafting around 2 pm and then drive back to Kathmandu which takes around 14 hours of journey.
